I AM STILL A CHILD AT HEART

And that inner child has had the time of her life at speelplein Rollebolle Laarne. From 2007 to 2012 I spent my summers entertaining children. As I grew older, I got more involved during the year as well. I had a blast creating DIY masterpieces to give the little ones a world of their own. (How’s a mummy for the toddlers’ book closet?) I learned to appreciate the not-so-easy children and felt the immense gratitude that radiates from special children and their parents. I loved letting the PR animal free every now and then, with as a highlight making the copy for the renewed website. I’ve felt pure joy and deep sadness. I’ve seen my preference shift from independent children to those honest little monsters that have a gift for exhausting you, yet make you forget all their little mischief  with a laugh or a tear.  I’ve been surprised by how total opposite characters can make great teams. Being able to tell the most absurd stories and playing the craziest games, without having to hold back or being afraid “it’s not how it’s supposed to be”  helped me keep an open mind and boosted my natural creativity even more.

I loved how (my) crazy ideas were received with a “this is great, let’s figure out a way to make this work” instead of being dismissed.
